Meet The Therapist

Jen Yawger, LCSW, LICSW

Jen has worked in the social work field for 20 years. Jen graduated with her MSW from Rutgers School of Social Work. Jen also studies History and Humanities with specialization in Human Rights at Oxford University before beginning her career as a social worker. Jen is a Certified School Social Worker and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in NJ, TN, MA and NH.

Jen has worked with children ages 0-17 in Early Intervention, School Based, Community Based Services and Private Practice throughout her career. Jen has completed training and certifications in behavioral therapies to support children at home and school. Jen has provided services to build upon social skills and emotion regulation in children at all developmental stages, as well as support parents in navigating challenges or transitions.

Jen ‘s experience in trauma informed care is for all ages to support people experiencing trauma. Through trauma specific therapies, Jen works to build a nurturing, safe and collaborative environment to help clients in healing and skill building. In practice, Jen also serves in perinatal care offering individual and group therapy to those struggling in this period of their lives.

 In her free time Jen enjoys spending time with her family and 3 dogs, hiking, reading, crafts and outdoor activities.

We work in evidence based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused. When working with children we strive to create an interactive and skill building environment through play, art, and activity based approach. Our approach prioritizes healing at its core and is client centered. We work together on building skills and strategies to support you in managing emotions, thoughts and behaviors.

My trauma-informed care approach emphasizes understanding the profound impact of trauma on your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This framework ensures that our work together respects your experiences and promotes a sense of safety and empowerment. With training in trauma informed therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Trauma Focused, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness and Wellness Recovery Action Plan, we strive to build skills and self awareness to build on a person’s strengths and resiliency.
